PERFORMER, INSTRUCTOR, PHOTOGRAPHER, ARTIST
I have been a visual artist for my entire life, but it was through the medium of circus as both a performer and instructor that I was able to practice concept development and execution of ideas most fully. As a circus artist, I learned how to put ideas on a stage. As an instructor, I practiced coaching beautiful lines and authentic movement. As a photographer, I hope to translate the essence of an idea into a still image that has impact. As an artist, I seek to capture feeling, evoke emotion, and disarm the viewer with meaningful imagery.
Through my photography, I actively work to reject the fetishization of female fragility, to reimagine heteronormative stereotypes, and to portray vulnerability as a source of strength and power.
